AIMCORP Awarded A BPR Contract with the Ministry of Health Services (PharmaCare) in British Columbia ...

In 2003/2004, a Program Review was carried out to examine current processes and identify opportunities for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the PharmaCare program.  One of the areas highlighted for enhancement through the research and stakeholder engagement of the Review was the Drug Formulary Management process.  As a result, the Ministry is moving ahead on this project.

Dr. Mir F. Ali, Managing Partner, noted that the project was initited in the month of January, 2005 with the planned compeletion date being the end of August 2005.  He further noted that the key objective of the project is to design and model a reengineered Drug Formulary Management and Review Process which:

  • Integrates appropriate stakeholder engagement;
  • Adheres to best practices in business processes;
  • Fosters efficiencies while maintaining an evidence-based focus on patient health;
  • Is feasible within Ministry timelines, capacity and resources;
  • Achieves transparency; and
  • Is cost effective and sustainable.

The reengineered Drug Formulary Management will speed up the process of reviewing and listing drugs on the PharmaNet so that British Columbians can take advantage of the specific programs in place for Seniors, Families, Income Assistance, long-term care, and Chronic Disease.

Dr. Ali has had opportunities to manage the similar projects for the Department of National Defence, Environment Canada, the RCMP, Canada Post Corporation, Public Works and Goods and Services Canada, etc.
